No. Although, Some Companies would go to the extra extent to do so, this was not one of them. If you see the section on firring strips being put around the power box, that is another method to avoid stripping all of the shingle siding off of the house. Stripping the shingles off can become problematic, also, because while some houses have plywood sheeting under the shingles, most have horizontal redwood 1"x4" -6" boards where the the shingles are attached over tar paper. So, this leads to having to deal with the disposal and demolition of the shingles, and then subsequently having to provide vertical firring strips to attach the new insulation, vapor barrier, and Vinyl Siding. If you do choose to install Vinyl Siding over the existing shingles, I suggest either firring out the entire build with 1"x4" DF, or in the case of No Firring, use 3" Deck Screws for attachment of Siding Panels, through heavier Black Foil Clad Insulation. This type of Insulation as seen in the Video provides a solid backing to make sure the Siding Panels do not suffer any cupping as they are applied to a decently rigid backing. I hope that helps? Vinyl Siding is not always the perfect solution for home remodeling, and is often used to cover up more serious flaws in the building's construction. Often good for flipping fixer-up houses, or for quick holiday renovation. If you choose it to remodel your own home, I recommend that you be sure to leave enough room for Siding Panel Expansion and Also, be sure you follow a fairly rigid nailing schedule of 16" on Center to help alleviate and Pane Stress under extreme Heat and Cold Conditions. Vinyl Siding, despite all of it's Claims, is best left for environments that remain in the average range of 65 to 100 Degrees. -Tracy Mapes

They are taking actions outside of the scope of their purpose. Not only have they shutdown and taken away access to 1.4 Billion Square Miles of Class 'G' Airspace which has been fully available to the public for over 400 years, they are trying to monetize the Sky itself, but trying to even tell property owners that they cannot have full use of the air over their own land. Crossing State lines outside of federal prerogative to regulate commerce and denying citizens their 1st and 4the amendments rights, by not allowing them to publish their own personal creations through drone photography on platforms like youtube and facebook. There are rules such as the 'Commerce Clause' in the Constitution that allow the government to regulate interstate commerce, but not activities with individual state bodies. They are denying persons and children from participation in drone registration and activities that 13 year of age or younger. This unwarranted invasion upon American Freedoms by an agency is both egregious and overbearing in its scope of newly introduced restrictions that could never pass Constitutional muster. For hundreds of years property ownership has included the right to the Sky above their property, from the ground to the heavens. That was reduced to 400-500 AGL due to the advent of the aircraft industry. Sounds reasonable, but now they want control of the rest of the Sky. I say that these measures are so seriously flawed in their power grab of well established individual rights and freedoms, that All Americans should be upset, not just drone or UAV Pilots. Take Care.

Most of the house was covered in a very rigid foil backed foam. The area around the power box was firred out to accommodate the utilities, pipe, conduit, etc. The majority of the siding was attached with 20p framing nails. The nails generally only hit super solid wood every 4the row of siding. In the future, I would recommend using 3" inch gold anodized deck screws. This job was done 23 years ago. Some Companies will skip the firring due to cost, which I am sure has doubled by now. I was the Installer on this job, and thought it might help others to see the prep work before they decided to do it on their own.
